We stayed at the sister hotel (Sandwich Inn & Suites) in Massachusetts this past fall. While looking for a getaway I found this.
We are very glad we did. It is really as described - a renovated 1950s motel right on the main road heading north out of Portsmouth.
The renovation is superb. It keeps the coziness of the old motel with all of the modern conveniences. It even has the old "continental" breakfast available in the lobby every morning. We did not take advantage of this but it is nice to have available if needed.
The staff were nice, the housekeeping people were very outgoing and friendly too.
The room was spotless (small stains in the carpet near the door, but in winter with salt and sand that is expected) and there was even a boot tray inside the door to keep the room dry and your boots off the rug!
The bed was comfortable and both hard and soft pillows are provided to help you sleep well. The heat worked just fine. There is a fridge and microwave and a coffee maker too. The TV is cable and a good size.
All the comforts of home and I really like the way is has been done.
Now...the quirky thing. You get free wi-fi (very good too) for 2 devices at once. We each had our phones so there was our two (you can pay additional for 4), I shut my phone's wi-fi off and tried logging into a tablet. Nope...the wi-fi only recognized the 1st 2 you used. That was strange. It wasn't really a serious inconvenience, but strange.
This really nice place is well worth it. The cost was most reasonable, the rooms really nice and the grounds beautiful in the fresh snow that fell.
Give it a try. It was busy because it deserved to be.
